Why add to the vagaries of a Vanagon's cooling system with another potential problem? If you're after 120 VAC heat, plug in an electric resistive space heater; they have an efficiency of 100%, what more could you want? If you want hot water while your're basking in the warmth of your van, install an electric instantaneous water heater; they're compact and also highly efficient.
