I bought a high quality Agressor 2 1/16" hole saw for drilling 3 VDO gauge holes under the radio space on my 79 Breadloaf. talk about tricky drilling!

In your case, I think I'd drill the pilot hole(1/4" prolly) before I started the hole saw and then try extending the hole saw pilot bit out a little further to hold your position once the saw starts digging in to the uneven surfaces. I have a full set of the Agressor hole saws now(I think the kit was about $70) and they cut flesh and steel without regard for race, creed, or ethnic background. The individual ones are about 8 or 9 dollars I think. I think the individual ones have a built in hex shaft so you don't need the adjustable spindle part.

My guess is you'll have this hole drilled by the time you get this message anyway!!
