I would get rid of that pipe nipple and tee combination though for the oil pressure gauge/switch. I foresee the nipple breaking just where in enters the case. Use a short straight fitting to the tub and place the tee at the other end with both sensors or better yet use the VDO gauge with a dual sensor, (gauge and light in one).

Denis, thanks for the reply. I was feeking pretty certain it must be a faulty gasket. I've had reports from others now with the same experience. Sure a major PITA. As for the pipe nipple and Tee combination, I have had that set-up on my Westy for over five years witn no problems. I have also installed the same setup on numerous customers vans without any problems so far. I undersatand your feeling that the lengnt of the pipe and weight of the tee and senders at the end could cauce the nipple to crack but none have so far. This is probably due to the fact that the OEM sender may touch or come very close to touching the push rod tube cover in most instances. Anyways, thanks for the advice. BTW, that new engine with the head gasket problem went in the '90 CARAT I bought from Tim last spring which you worked on previously. I got the A/C working in it, plus a ton of other repairs. Just the body work and paint left to do. Lots of Fiberglas pieces to repair..........yikes !
