Sounds like what he really needs is some "brake oil"! That'll quiet those dang squeaky pads!

Reminds me of the "Letter to the editor" story, and since it's friday I may as well tell it: To the Editor- I put a brick in my toilet like was suggested in the "water savers" article in your paper. Well, I must say, I don't think much of that advice! When I flushed the toilet, all the stuff got stuck on the brick and stopped the toilet up and I had to reach down into all that filth to pull out the brick so it would flush. I don't understand why you'd give out such bad advice! -Upset Reader

[Editor note: you're supposed to put the brick in the tank, not the bowl]
