The pop-top campers are the best because they have more weight. I proved this on a road with 2 feet of snow and rear chains. A neigbor's passenger Vanagon, chained up, could not budge. I plowed the road. The extra thousand pounds that a camper has makes a difference. I also drove 80 miles that day going 25 mph. As long as you keep it slow , the Vanagon does better. In places where everyone drives 60 with studded tires and compact snow, I don't know. It doesn'nt snow much around here to drive like that.
