That leaves a lot of new connections to re-check for leaks, then.

I know that on my '85, I ended up replacing all the crossover pipes that run behind the crankshaft pulley. Rust had taken it's toll, and I managed to poke a hole in one while pulling them out. I decided that parts cost (while not cheap) was less than the aggravation of doing the job again soon, so I just replaced all three. If you didn't replace yours, and live in a rusty climate, check carefully for pinhole leaks in these pipes.

Needless to say, I also replaced all the little rubber hose stubs to the water pump, heads and stuff while I was in the there. These were the last, since I'd already replaced all the big accessible hoses right after I bought the van.

Don't overlook the possibility that the water pump itself may be the problem... new does not always equal good.

Best of luck tracking it down!
