This reminds me of when my '65 Beetle convertible sucked #3 exhaust valve years ago. It broke the top out of #3 piston and pieces of it ended up embedded in the combustion chambers of #s 1, 2, and 4.

It sure sounds like it's time to pull the heads and see what has happened.
