Heh. Sorry, didn't mean to sound so awful. I've been sick for a couple days
and I'm a bit loopy. Before I got distracted by my own silly "toilet" story
I meant to say something about brake pads. The pads that came with my
Vanagon when I bought it were squeaking like crazy. I don't know what brand
they were, but it doesn't really matter because they were actually
installed improperly! I would never have thought such a thing possible, but
the fool PO managed to get the little spring wedged between the caliper and
the pad backing on BOTH the left and right sides. Subsequently, the pad
could rock, jiggle, and vibrate like crazy. The one on the left had a crack
down the center and the one on the right was actually CRUMBLING at the
edge. Where was I going with this? (Sorry, still feverish) Oh yeah. The
pads I put in were Mintex, and I haven't heard a peep since.
