Steve,
I don't know where you are at in Chicago, but I thought I would offer a
recommendation for a mechanic (I have no interest). The shop is K & B Auto
Service, Inc., 400 E Frontage Road, Shorewood, IL 60431. The phone is (815)
741-1133. Klaus Wever is the owner and they work mostly on german autos,
including a lot of air-cooled. I have had good results with their work on
my '88 Westy.
The work you listed is fairly standard stuff, but when you get into those
areas that are uniquely vanagon you will want to use someone who has vanagon
experience.
Best regards,
Mike
'88 Westy
