Hello, So I installed an Optima 650 ($140 at AutoZone) battery: http://gallery.openfbo.com/stereo/IMG_3282 And bought the Aux Battery kit from GoWesty. It was a seriously irritating installation. First of all, the battery terminal posts are conical, so the connectors in the kit just slide right up and off the posts as you tighten them. Second, the wires in the kit are really short (as are the VW wires on the relay). I ended up splicing extensions and replacing several of them. Somehow I managed to screw up the wiring to the relay. Does anyone have a picture or wiring diagram of the relay? It appears that the stereo is being powered from the aux battery when the engine/alternator is off, but I don't have any electricity to the sink, water pump, frig, or LED panel when the alternator is off. As soon as I start the engine I can use the sink and run the frig on 12 volt. Thanks, Matt |
