Here is one for anyone. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem. 84GL, manual 4 speed. It seems that if you push in on the top space contact of the backup light switch, you can cause it to become a short to the other contact. I could not figure out why the switch worked but when I pushed the wires on, I basically had a bypassed short circuit (backup lights on when the ignition was turned on). Finally found that if I pushed in on the top contact, I had the short and if I pulled out a little on the contact after pushing the wire on, the short went away and the switch operated normally. Is this characteristic of the switch failure mode? William |
