Similar story... one of my AlCan trips several years ago sometime in march, i think. Making good time, passing the semis on the twisty bits of northern alaska, looking down and thinking "probably a good time to get some gas". Unfortunately, gas stations are both far apart and seasonal. This can be frustrating because you will be passing a closed gas stop that has a sign taunting you "43 more miles until the next chance for gas!!". Rinse and repeat. Needle keeps dropping, and the speed keeps slowing to conserve whatever fuel i have left. The same semis that i passed an hour ago are now wondering why i am only going 20mph in 2nd gear up that hill and shutting off the engine coasting down the other side...

All is well that ends well. Got gas, and i still made the trip to anchorage in just a couple days.
