Subject: Fuel Hose Adapter Part #?

My Vanagon, 85 1.9l Automatic California, has a small diameter hose running from the fuel tank, meeting a plastic adapter which connects to a larger diameter fuel hose which runs to the fuel pump.

This plastic piece has cracked and started leaking gas. I called a VW parts counter and they couldn't figure it what I was talking about.

Does anyone know the part #? Or perhaps where to find a replacement part that is metal?
