Subject: Cleaning DA-6 heater internals?
Comments: To: diesel-Vanagon@yahoogroups.com
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

I have my DA-6 heater out, and there is a bit of fuel that has managed to creep into the fresh air side of the heat exchanger, from the fuel leak I had. Is there a recommended method of cleaning this unit? I was thinking of standing on end and spraying brake cleaner down it to flush it out.

Also, is there any maintenance that should be done on the burner side of things, aside from removing all the various pieces and cleaning them? Is the exterior metal of these units plated with something? After scraping the crud off, I find shiny metal with no sign of rust...

Thanks.-- Shawn Wright I.T. Manager Shawnigan Lake School
