Subject: running problems in high humidity
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hello all, I am having a peculiar problem with my audi 3A/ golf gti digifant engine conversion. as stated it is an audi 2 liter running a golf RV engine digifant fuel injection system, fuel rail and injectors. Fuel pressure is 36 psi idle 42 under load . timing is set to stock golf setting(6 or 8* btc?) This engine easily passed emissions , gets 24 mpg highway about 20 overall ,runs pretty good except for some hesitation at throttle tip in .The afm is in the stock location about 2 feet from the throttle body. The problem I am having is that occasionally during high humidity, rain or last nights wet snow, the engine will not accelerate from idle a few minutes after starting. It is like it is totally leaned out Almost like running a cold carbureted engine with the choke off. However if I unplug the coolant temp sensor for the ecm the engine will run pretty much normally. This must put the ecm into a default mode. After the humidity drops and the sky clears , the problem vanishes,I reconnect the temp sensor, and the engine runs fine. I've thought it was a"false air" problem but can not find an vacuum leak after a careful search. I have also check the value of the temp sensor at various temps and it is in spec. I am leaning towards a bad AFM , it is the only thing I can think of that may be affected but humidity. Can I install the AFM from the .2.1 wbx to test this ? Any thoughts folks? Thank you again, Dennis Atkins
