And keep in mind that almost all Dealer supplied/installed AC units for air cooled models (not just the Vanagon) were supplied from a Texas based facility. This is the reason many dealers & AC techs called them "Fort Worth" AC units (it even says "Forth Worth" on the AC Parts Fiche title that VW used). DPD, an OE USA supplied AC system for VWs back into the 60s was based in Texas (so I am led to believe).

In my fiche collection, I have several (some barely readable) fiche for VW AC systems and parts. Someday, when I have GOBS of time on my hands (and my vision holds up), I will transcribe the parts into a format that can be read without squinting.
