I was cruising home last night on westbound 50 here in Sacramento, doing a little over 70mph in the fast lane when a beige Westy pulled up close behind me. Now, I'm pretty proud of my stock '89 Wolfy's engine. It has the strongest running stock 2.1 WBXer I've ever driven. So I'm thinking to myself "let's see what this Westy's got", and I floor it.

At 80mph the Westy is still there. At 85mph, still there. At 90mph, still there. Well, 90mph is about it for me. My gauge is reading 4900rpm and I just can't bring myself to push her any harder so I move over one lane. Without so much as wink or a blink the Westy cruises by me. How depressing...

Couldn't tell from looking what was in that Westy. Sacramento tends to be TIICO country, so that's probably what it was.

Perhaps a nice V6 TDi with an Audi Tiptronic tranny would do the trick? All I need is a spare $30,000...

Happy Friday.

Cheers,

Jeff www.vanagonparts.com
