I can't see how an RI can charge such a paltry sum to do this. Even NAFTA (country/ies) imports run much higher than that. In practice it is ridiculously higher. He/She is either not doing something right or they are just giving their time away. Anyway, if the company or individual RI is not on the NHTSA RI list, that is not a very good sign. =) Besides, how did it get from the border to here? (For those in the know, should understand their little puppy was supposed the leave the country by "air or sea".

This has been hashed and rehashed over the years on this list and others. That was one of the reasons I put up the links in Vanagon Cafe for some of the agencies that deal with this sort of thing. So I will stop here.
