Keep that support brace, for sure. I have measured a few bubble tops on various American camper van models so I assume that is what you are looking at too. They are just a little bit too wide for the Vanagon roof but not as much so as one might guess. I have seen some that could fit if you trimmed the slanted out bottom edge until the width was right but their window openings were too low for that. Still looking though. The Adventurewagen roof has the advantage of fitting but I'm not 100% happy with it. There was one available to me for a long time at a quoted price of $150 from a VW junkyard but it was the early aircooled Vanagon model version top and a little too beat up to boot. I went by to look closely at it again yesterday and it was gone. Oh well, snooze and loose.
