Hi, my friend Stephen here in town did something similar to his '82 westy. He used a "carpet-like" material that he first saw on the interior hull of a sailboat. Its designed for that purpose, insulation and a decent look. It looks quite good, I have no measure or reports of how warmer it is however. Alistair
