Before you waste time hooking up relays etc, try the 12v heater by
directly connecting it to the battery.  Use it for a day or two and
see if you like it.

I've found that 12v heaters are generally useless, unless they are
propane/gas fired and the 12v is simply to run their fan.

You may want to look into 12v electric blankets to stay warm, or
propane options...
