Really want oxy-acetylene. Propane torch to slow, will both the nut and stud. Real torch will get the nut red hot quickly, and then it will turn right off.

Have you tried a propane torch?

I'm not kidding. It's in the John Muir book on the old beetle. The trick is, you want to heat up the NUT not the bolt. The nut will expand (ever so slightly) and will be able to be removed.
