Any hints or tips? >> If you didn't cleaned the varnish off that shaft before you started, this is a good time to consider doing it. As far as drifting out (or in) the coupling pin, I had to make a saddle to back up the coupling so as not to booger it or the shaft. (Perhaps it should not be called a "saddle". Imagine a 2" square of 3/4" stock with a through hole centered on it's 2"X2" face just big enough to receive the coupling and a perpendicular though hole for the pin punch slightly larger than the pin. I clamped it in a bench vise.) I've seen the results whenever the coupling is held in a bench vise then wailed on; not too pretty a'tal. George |
