Hi Joe,
This past weekend my wife mentioned she had seen a vanagon for sale
while out on her school bus route. So I followed up the lead on Sunday
and had a look... It was a 1988 8-passenger model with over 300,000 KM,
deep seam rust, a bad tranny and a seized engine. But the price was
good so I'm probably buying it anyway, because the interior is good and
it's sitting on 4 very near new michelins. Dad can use the glass and
other fittings for his fleet.
Speaking of Dad, he's near Sarasota FL this week and has an oil leak in
his 82 Vanagon westy . If anyone can recommend a good shop it would be
appreciated. On the way home he has two waterboxers to look into...
one's a westy and the other an 8-passenger. He and mom *love* their 82
but would prefer to have something with AC, PS, AT and heat.
Happy trails,
Greg Potts
