The final details are the hardest part of the engine installation. I agree that the oxy sensor should not be connected on a new engine you can load up the exhaust with raw fuel just by making oil pressure if your injectors are squirting. The increased fuel mileage Marc is experiencing could be a clue that the engine is very lean or the fuel pressure is low not at idle where most would check it but at speed. The possibilities are almost endless and Marc needs to start at the beginning and do the basics timing, compression, tuning then move on to the next level pin testing the harness, setting the valves and exhaust gases. I have seen a air fuel ratio meter for $300 and this would be a huge benifit and eliminate the guessing good luck Marc let me know if I can help you
