sounds like the pressure cap blew off while you where sitting at idle. I
would replace the pressure cap and go from there. It could well have been a
defective t stat and it sounds like your saying its not because you lost
coolant when the van was parked idling. I say these are two differant
issuses
replace the pressure cap
