I expressed my concerns about hanging 200 pounds off a Vanagon hitch.


There are special weight distributing carriers available in Europe for the
Vanagon that are rated to carry 150kg.  These bolt to the frame and are
engineered to distribute the weight forward.  I'm not sure how exactly they
work, but the engineer that designed it tried to explain it to me.
