Hold on a sec....

IMHO

Our local VW dealer uses a Eurovan for their shuttle service. And after riding in it one time I won't buy one. It has the same character as a Chevy, ford, etc... a lot of rigid plastic and as tall as a phone booth -- and more expensive. The pre 91' vans are great and I have found very reliable (315,000 miles on mine). They just require a little more TLC than $80-$90/hr can buy (season for doing own work) and the engine is only good for about 100K.

I bought mine new in 90' 14,400 + 2 engines at 3,500 puts me at about $21K since 1990, a little over a thousand a year. I think that'll beat any old van the big three can turn out. And I hope to put at least 500,000 miles (0.5M) on it.

Sharon, I think the message is obvious.

The VW stores aren't quite as crazy as the folks who own / drive the Van's they have to offer.

I think this situation is pitiful, as well as an indication of what's what in reality.

If the places that sell & service them won't use them, why should Joe Q consumer?

Interesting insight on VW reliability. ( Even on the later model offering's) RC

I've noticed too that VW dealers NEVER have any used Eurovans or any VW vans of any kind for sale.  Again - there's a message here!!   Sharon Mendonca 88 Vanagon GL 88 Westy
