Subject: Door electrics problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

I recently went on a fairly long road trip in my carat. During the trip I noticed the passenger front window did not operate. Since it rarely got above 20 the whole time, it wasn't a big deal.

But since the mechanism and motor are fairly new (2 years at most) and so it the window scraper rubber, it didn't seem likely that old age got to it. I removed it today, and it did seem stiff at first. I turned it with pliers and hooked it back up to the harness. Nothing.

Then I made up some test leads and connected it straight to the battery. It purred like a new one.

I plugged it back up to the harness in the door. Nothing.

Got out the voltmeter, and there's 12v to the three-way plug. I plug in the pigtail and there's 12v to that.

I plug in the pigtail and nothing.

Test the motor again on the batter and it works fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim
