Here in colorado it doesnΉt cause a tax liability but it does create massive problems if the plates get loose and you havent deregistered the vehicle. Years ago one I hauled in for disposal got me some parking tickets overdue notices in the mail. That was when I realized the plates were still on the vehicle and that you needed to go to dmv and deregister a vehicle. Took a nightmare of running around and paperwork to get out of those 70 dollar tickets. By the time I was done I think it might have been easier to pay them.
