My 2-cents.

I think you could find a bunch of better tires than the Yokohama Avid
Touring .

I'd look for something with a Load index of 97 or better and something
higher than 35 psi max inflation pressure. 

If you like Yokohama the Geolandar H/T-S is very hard to beat for your
stated needs.

Subject: Good "Trail" Tire

Going to go ahead and get the GoWesty 15" wheel set for my 84 westy and
wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on a good all around tire to go
with them.  The Michelins are nice but a little on the pricey side. We have
the Yokohama Avid Touring on our Mazda MPV minivan and I love them and there
$50 a piece, so I'm thinking of going this route.

I drive 99% of the time on the road so I don't need anything you syncro guys
are using, but do go "off the pavement" to get to a good camping spot on
occasion.
