Back in the days when the first Audi Quattro Coupe was dominating the rally world, VW decided to try another alternative. They made a twin-engined Jetta. Getting the gearshift points synchronized was critical, as there were TWO gearboxes, clutches etc. Apparently it worked well, but was never developed beyond the "VW1" prototype.

I remember reading about this in "Wheels" back at the time... and hoping it would lead somewhere!
