I was taking my CV joints apart for maintenace last night and found that when I went to take the joints off the end of the axle -- after removing the circlip -- 3 of the joints slid off the axle rather easily. Just needed light pressure from my thumb. The fourth took the usual vice and banging on the axle with a brass punch. There hasn't been any sign of CV joint failure -- no clicking or vibration. The surfaces look fine. Do the joints sliding off so easily mean that the axles and/or joints are shot -- too much slop? Or is this ok? Thanks, Will |
