here is some data that i have been compiling. thanks to those of you that have helped me acquire this data. additionally if you have other data on any of these engines please feel free to send it along so that i can add it. Vanagon Engine Weights ---------------------------------------- 2.0 Air-cooled Boxer 82 kg = 180 lbs longblock in a crate. 2.0 Air-cooled Boxer 160 kg = 353 lbs with clutch, flywheel, manifolds, and engine cross member. 1.9 and 2.1 Waterboxer 82 kg = 180 lbs longblock without intake or exhaust. Using a whole sheet of plywood and 3) 2x3 the weight in a crate is 205 lbs. Waterboxer 120 kg = 265 lbs fully assembled. 1.8 Inline 4 Cylinder 82 kg =180 lbs longblock in a crate. Tiico conversion 210 kg = 465 lbs with a muffler and no manifolds in crate. 2.2 Inline 5 Cylinder 158 kg = 348 lbs with clutch, flywheel and manifolds (no engine cross member). jonathan |
