For those who are considering subscribing to satellite radio, XM satellite radio announced today that they will be increasing their monthly subscription fee from $9.95 to $12.95 on April 2, 2005. This puts their monthly service at the same price as Sirius and removes one of the most noticeable differences between the two - the cheaper XM monthly rate (yearly rate was similar to Sirius). XM will also no longer charge $3.99 a month extra for their recently-added internet access to their music channels, which was something included in the Sirius price from the beginning. If you are a current XM subscriber, expect a letter in the mail soon detailing the price increase. You can lock in your current rate by subscribing to a year or longer plan by April 2. caverat 89 westy |
