Where do you hail from and how far along on this project are you? Well, I'm just finishing up a complete, inside & out body/paint restoration. So, I, like you, started thinking ahead a little, and, One of the first things I need to do, after the paint dries, is to get the Dash back in & start the puppy up, after many moons of not running. So, I started thinking about mounting the heater, And, I've always wanted one of those Behr front Air conditioners. And then, after talking to a guy in Cal, who was selling His Behr A/C. Because he decided to go the Vantage Air,Heater/Air Conditioner/Defroster Route. I sez to my self, Self, this sounds like the way to go. I may not even need the overhead rear Camper Air ! (more storage)! Could even sell it to make the down payment on the Vantage air. Everything would be State of the art, Efficient and dependable...and Cold !!! So, Right now, I've checked them out on the net, & called them. I've got my old heater sitting in place, seeing how the new one will fit. And, looks like it will fit just fine ! Also, I was worried about Adding an A/C unit, on top of (besides) the VW heater, because of room. The VW heater is quite large, as it is! So, this way I wouldn't lose any glove box, ashtray, or Stereo! Everything is combined into the same space, only taking up as much room as the VW its self. Price will be around 1K total, it's looking like. Installation looks like a cool breeze ! ;o) But, plenty of CHILL FACTOR !!! peaceout, John C... SLC, UT 85 Westy... |
