In my ample experience, the longer a wiper blade is over the stock size, the faster ice builds on its outer tip. The more the ice builds up, the more the blade is lifted from the windshield until much of the blade is riding on built up ice. Then it is time to get out and slap the blades against the windshield. If a windshield has any curve to it, the outer tip of an oversized windshield wiper on the passenger side might not even touch the windshield whenever the wiper sweeps to the parked position making matters even worse.
