I signed up for the Sirius network today. I'd planned on doing this for some time now but finally the time was right. The tuner currently offered on the Sirius website is the Sportster, the original model. The next generation of tuner from Sirius is the StarMate ST1 (just released), smaller and I'm assuming more reliable (I've read the original unit had a problem with excessive heat that would effect the LCD display). The one place I found that has them in stock and ready to ship is Crutchfield.com Their price is $129 for the tuner and includes a car kit. Plus there is a $30 rebate offer when you sign up for the one year service contract, which brings the price to $99. The home kit is not yet in stock but it sells for $29 which it brings the total net cost back to $129 ($29 more than the Sportster promo on the Sirius website). A friend of mine turned me on to Crutchfield and gave me a referral code which gave me an extra $20 off the purchase (plus gave him a $20 referral credit). Now I have a referral code ( pch24-kz289-kr767 ) which I pass along to any of you that are considering a Sirius network subscription. This brings the net price back to $109. I'm not posting this message to accumulate credit (in fact IMO it would be cool if several of us are going to get Sirius that we create a pyramid of referral codes so everyone benefits). Anyway, when I was signing up for the service, it seemed logical to me to get the latest equipment...
