Actually, there WERE a few built with ABS. But, thanks to the US government protecting us, they never got into the US. Seat/ shoulder belts provide good protection in about 95% of crashes, but only if they are worn. Side impact air bags are a nice feature of SOME new cars, but rarely needed. I'm sure there is some crumple protection in the front. Does anyone know of published insurance intsitute or DOT test crashes of Vanagons? The biggest safety feature of any car is the operator. Maybe we can injure our arms patting ourselves on the back for our safe record? Al Brase
