That item #28 may still be available, but is only shown in the 80-85 models fiche, VW PN 035 905 331, the fiche says used only on Air Cooled California 2.0 Vanagons equipped with Hall Ignition, but it's also used on the 1.9 Wassers because the same hall unit is called for. They dropped it from 86-91 fiche and from ETKA entirely, so that's why you don't see it there. This is why I keep all of my fiche references just because of errors from fiche to ETKA transfers. Just because ETKA says "Part Unknown" doesn't mean it's no longer available, it's usually because it got lost in the "cracks" when the fiche data was transferred to ETKA. Very common problem with ETKA.

I have both Hall Units on my desk for inspection; the connectors do look identical, but the wiring harness attached to them are different, the 80-85 still having a longer set of wires from the plate assembly. I suppose with some careful work, you could make it work on the 86-91 hall assembly plate. Again, I don't know if it's still available from VW, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Now the white plastic flat connector where it plugs into that black hall unit connector above it's VW 211 905 327. These are usually brittle and can break easy (it's happened twice on my Westy). Fits 79-83 Cal Vanagons, 83-91 Wassers. As far as I know, they're still available from VW.
