The one in the back of my '85 (pending sale--thanks Samba!) was actually installed by the previous owner. He got it out of a wrecked one...As far as the folding mechanism, you pull that handle on the back of the seat to disengage, pull forward, lift up the bottom, and pull it all out and flatten it...I don't know if that's different or not. I do know that it became very, very easy once I oiled up the hinges. And, it is a really comfortable bed. I got many good nights' sleep in it.
