Hola Maggiedoo! Don't chuck that tank. Vent the little bit of propane that remains and you can remove the tank from the van with an ordinary metric wrench set. Then to refurb the tank, take off the filler, the valve and regulator and get the critter sand blasted and nicely painted in your choice of color. Then buy a new filler, a new valve, and keep the old regulator if it was working when you emptied it it'll work when you're done. An RV place or Propane Provider can show you what you need and put it on for you IF the tank is empty and it's off the van.

Or you could have it filled somewhere else where the LPG Nazi will let you have some.
