I had a shield as the last time I looked (not thrilled about digging through the snow to take a look right now). And heat wasn't the problem, as the engine would stall even when it was warm. Every time I stopped for a few minutes it would stall several times when I started up again. Then it would be OK for the rest of the trip. But today the stalling was out of control.
