For some elitist reason, Bay windows are really disdained by the splittie volks. (Hence the name "Fat chick buses"???), but vanagons are held in higher esteem. Bay prices seem to be much lower than the other versions & around here you can barely give away a bay bus. I have never driven/owned a bay but love my 84 & 65 Westys. When ever I have the chance to do a long road trip, I will take the 84 any day over the splitties for obvious reasons like HEAT, but some shows like Kelley Park, OCTO, etc. you have to have thick skin to show up in a post 1967 bus.

Vanagon campers are plentiful, cheap, & extremely comfortable, w/ nothing else out there like them in a contemporary vehicle. Now if Honda would just offer a westy version of the Element maybe VW would get a clue????? (Can you say Verdier?)

FWIW,

Tom Buese-no bigotry intended to women or bay buses
