The 7" wide ET45 Audi rims are a problem on the 2wd. The earlier Audi ET45 Turbo wheels were only 6" wide so rim clearance was often less of an issue than tire clearance.I would start with at least a 9/16" spacer and see how the fit is but I would not be surprised if you end up needing close to an inch. You may need to use stick on tire balancing weights since the hammer on type go where clearance is tight. After you have the minimum spacer determined for the rims then try tires. Different brands and models have slightly different dimensions even on tires that are the same "size". I have used 215/75/15 on various Mercedes, Audi, and Passat wheels. They are the tallest and widest practical 15" size in some respects. Many people are looking for something entirely different in tires but that is the size I use. My main interests lie with Syncros so I will let others speak up for 2wd fitments.

The Mercedes 6.5x15 ET37 is a better starting point IMHO, and not that hard to find from 1990s C220/230 models, as well as being attractive in the eyes of this beholder. You would still need spacers.
