Before I did the subie mod on my 82 air cooled I was getting 14 around town and 17 on the highway at 65 to 70 mph. If I nudged higher I dropped to about 16 mpg.

With the ej22 mod I get about 18 avg for my normal mix of highway and around town, about 20mpg in the 65 mph cruise and drop back to a little over 18mpg when I push 75plus. I went from using about 700 gallons a year to using 560 gallons per year. Saving about 261 bucks a year on fuel. However all that savings means little when you look at the numbers on the gas pump spinning around faster than you can read them. It would almost be cheaper to buy some mini scooter for a lot of my around town stuff.
