Subject: New Hydrolic lifters gasoline smell
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello All,

I received my order of new hydrolic lifters and ready for the big job this coming weekend to complete replacing the head job for my Westy vanagon. I opened the package and a strong smell of gasoline coming out of the lifters package. I was holding a lifter and wipe it with a clean paper tower, I found some residual dirt came out of the lifter. Also these lifters are about 3mm longer than those I pulled out from the engine block. I do not feel comfortable installing this new lifters onto the engine, as you know, it takes an awful lot of efforts to replace it if the lifters are not right. I would greatly appreciate any suggestion about the gasoline smelling lifters.

Leo, 1991 Westy Multivan, 110,000mls
