Subject: A message from White House Spokesperson Scott McLellan:
Discussion of gas demand is unAmerican sedition!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Several posters have broken the one rule that causes journalists to lose their jobs and politicians to lose their constituents. This discussion of oil demand must stop, or the list may be shut down. Please limit your gasoline price discussion to SUPPLY ONLY, as in "oil prices are higher today on speculation that the Saudis will not pump an extra one-and-a-half million barrels per day as hoped." Discussion of the demand side of the energy market equation will quickly discovered and dealt with. Dissemination of demand information is not patriotic, not American, and will not be tolerated. References to American fuel consumption, in any way, will not be tolerated. Discussion of other countries' fuel demand is OK.

--Scott McLellan, White House Apologist
