I personally use an Excel spreadsheet that I print out and stick in the glove compartment. As I do work I hand-write it in on the sheet and every once in a while I'll take it inside to type in all the handwritten stuff and print a new sheet. I thought of perhaps writing my own custom database program, but I couldn't think of anything I needed it to do that wasn't already adequately fulfilled by a sheet of paper. Maybe timed reminders for scheduled maintenance, but I'm such a weirdo that all I think about anyway is what my Vanagon is going to need next.
