Unfortunately, the coat hanger idea won't work. The insides of a Vanagon fuel tank are for more complex than just an outlet and inlet. The outlet nipple (can I use that term?) attaches to a hose inside the tank that runs to a center area that is protected by a mesh screen that is about 6" round. Due to the angles involved, the coat hanger will never reach that mesh screen.

Cheers,

hey Grunge, you sound like the kind of person who can fix this problem. Get under the van and get comfy. Remove the fuel line where it enters the tank. Then use a coat hanger and ram it inside the tank many times.Or,just go to the local gas station and use the compressed air to blow in the crud that has accumulated at the fuel exit in the tank. When the pump cant pull in enough gas, it will whine. Then if this doesnt work, spend money on a filter.Too many pumps are replaced with that whine noise that are still good.Good Luck, Roger Sisler
